Difference between Sun Sign and Moon Sign

According to Western belief system, Sun Sign refers to that zodiac sign where Sun was in transit, at the time of one’s birth. Sun stays/transits in a single rashi/zodiac sign for 30 days. It is only based on date of birth.

Similarly, according to Indian belief system, Moon Sign refers to that zodiac sign in which Moon was in transit at the time of your birth. It is based on date, place and time of birth and can be derived by using astrological calculation. Moon stays in a sign for 2 and half days.

As the position of Moon changes, it will bring corresponding changes in the astrological combinations of a person. Moon sign predictions generally tend to indicate about the emotional side of a person.

Sometimes, two people with same Sun sign do not have identical qualities and that is because they have different Moon signs.

The Moon sign predictions will take into account the position of other planets too. Thus two people having the Moon sign may have very different personalities.

In Vedic Astrology, the Moon Sign (Janma Rashi) is given more importance than the Sun Sign. It forms the basis for; naming a person, marriage compatibility, selecting a suitable profession, analyzing the personality etc.

Both Sun and Moon play an important role in guiding the destiny of an individual.

However, Moon sign predictions are considered to be more accurate, comprehensive and elaborate as it takes into consideration every minute movement or aspect of celestial activity.

Each sign in the celestial zodiac is ruled by a planet and support a specific set of characteristics.

When a person is born under a sign he/she automatically acquires the qualities of that specific sign, which are prominent by his/her persona.
