About IIVA

The Indian Institute of Vedic Astrology, Chandigarh (IIVA) was born out of a deep commitment to preserve, teach and propagate the timeless knowledge of Vedic Astrology in a systematic and meaningful manner.

The story of IIVA traces back to a significant transition in the field of Jyotish education in Chandigarh. Following the closure of the Astrology courses at Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, Sector 27, Chandigarh, senior Jyotish faculty members came together with a shared vision—to create a dedicated centre where the ancient science of Astrology could continue to be studied, taught and researched with sincerity and academic discipline.

Thus emerged the Indian Institute of Vedic Astrology, Chandigarh—an institution conceived not merely as a place for learning Astrology, but as a centre for deeper understanding, exploration and research into the ancient wisdom of Jyotish.

The Institute was founded by Sh. K. C. Malhotra and Smt. Aarti Sareen, whose individual journeys, experience and dedication became an important foundation for IIVA. Sh. K. C. Malhotra, an alumnus of Punjab Engineering College and a retired Chief Engineer of the Punjab Irrigation Department, developed a profound interest in Astrology through the works of eminent astrologers such as Dr. B. V. Raman and Dr. K. N. Rao. His areas of special interest include Transit, Ashtakvarga, Divisional Charts, Astro-Meteorology and Mundane Astrology.

Smt. Aarti Sareen, an academically accomplished Gold Medalist with Bachelor's, Master's and M.Phil. degrees in Commerce, pursued Astrology with the same dedication that had distinguished her academic career. Through extensive self-study, research and professional practice, she developed expertise particularly in Predictive Astrology and Medical Astrology, Advance Techniques for prediction,Brighu Nandi Nadi by drawing upon the principles of Sage Parashara.IIVA has completed 10 years on 16th April,2026.More than 30 batches have successfully completed courses.

A Vision for Systematic Learning

From its inception, IIVA has sought to bridge the gap between the ancient wisdom of the Rishis and the needs of the modern learner. The Institute's philosophy is founded upon the belief that Astrology deserves to be approached with seriousness, discipline, observation and continuous study.

Special emphasis has therefore been placed on learners who wish not only to understand the fundamentals but also to go deeper into the subject and pursue further research. The Institute has developed structured courses designed to make the learning process systematic and accessible while maintaining the depth and traditional foundations of Jyotish.

Carrying the Legacy Forward

Over the years, IIVA has expanded its academic canvas beyond Vedic Astrology to include related disciplines such as Numerology, Tarot, Palmistry, Vaastu Shastra and Krishnamurti Paddhati (K.P.), alongside advanced studies and research in Astrology.

Located in Chandigarh, IIVA has served learners not only from the city but also from Panchkula, Mohali and adjoining regions, while its learning initiatives have reached a wider audience through evolving modes of education.

The journey of IIVA is, therefore, more than the history of an educational institution. It is the story of a shared vision—to keep the ancient knowledge of Jyotish alive, accessible and intellectually engaging for generations of learners.

With its foundations firmly rooted in tradition and its outlook directed towards learning and research, IIVA continues to carry forward the timeless quest to understand the cosmic influences that have fascinated humanity for centuries.
